You Need Us On Your Team

The burnout of helping your child get to where they need to be in school is real. We get it because we’re parents, too. Dealing with your student’s schoolwork and homework can be overwhelming and frustrating. The constant battles cause stress and puts strain on our relationships with our kids.

We started Grace Place to help students ages 6 to young adult (and their parents) deal with homework and schoolwork-related frustrations.

We Make Learning (More) Fun

This shouldn’t come as a surprise, but we’ve found that students want things to be fun.

They like being rewarded. They like being with their friends. They actually want to understand subjects and do well in school.

They want to be around adults that care about them and are supportive.

We understand all of this and have incorporated this into what we offer at Grace Place.

Here’s what your student can expect when they are with us:

  • Homework assignments, schoolwork, studying for tests - mostly (or completely!) done when you come to pick them up or progress made toward their identified learning goals

  • Prizes/rewards for attending Homework Club or hitting learning milestones (Pokemon cards, squishmellows, candy - the kids make sure we always have the “coolest” prizes around).

  • Engaging discussions and “lessons” during group Homework Club and with learning coaches (Some recent discussions have included thoughts on the color of Fern’s hair from Charlotte’s Web, whether one should be Team Gale or Team Peeta from The Hunger Games, and the speed at which one can answer on beat).

  • Parent-approved snacks so they can power through learning

  • A safe, comfortable environment with learning supplies (study materials, access to Accelerated Reader, books, art supplies - even paper mache and those things you don’t want at home, and worksheets)

  • Kind, caring, helpful learning coaches to guide and support them

  • More time to spend with the family when they are done

Tutoring, Homework Help, and ACT/SAT Test Prep with the Whole Student In Mind

From snacks to fun prizes (Squishmellows are VERY popular) and comfy spaces, we want our students to want to come learn with us. Whether your student need tutoring, homework help, or test prep assistance, this is a place where kids can find grace, goodwill, and favor when it comes to learning.

We are growth-minded and believe that we share the responsibility to form good human beings in our community.

We don’t push or pressure students about grades or becoming “smarter.” Instead, we get to know them as people. We partner with you and their teachers (if requested). Together, we help them become more confident in their abilities and learn what they need to know to be successful in their learning journey.

 FAQs

  • It varies from student to student, but tutoring typically helps kids who:

    • Are struggling with a specific subject

    • Having a hard time with deadlines and completing homework on time

    • Have missed school or experienced poor teaching that has caused them to be behind

    • Need accountability for reading and writing

    • Needs help studying

  • Students in our Homwork Help program often see results immediately. Otherwise, results will vary based on need and frequency of visits.

  • It is recommended that students in our tutoring program attend tutoring at least once per week. This depends on how many subjects or the volume of homework the student must complete.

  • You can tell it’s working if your students assignments are being completed and his or her grades are going up. (It might sound like a dream at this point, but having another adult on your student’s “team” and giving them focused help - works!)

  • We will talk with you to discuss any concerns you may have about your student and make recommendations about the best program for them.

  • Through Grace Place we offer subject-specific tutoring and homework help as well as SAT/ACT college prep and Summer Clubs. We share our owner and learning coaches with our neighbor, LearningRx.

LearningRx offers one-on-one brain training designed to strengthen cognitive skills. These cognitive skills include attention, memory, logic and reasoning, processing speed, auditory and visual processing, and word attack. These skills affect how a person learns and performs. LearningRx strengthens and increases neural pathways in the brain and increases IQ an average of 15 points in kids and adolescents.

What we noticed is that kids often needed help with homework or specific school subjects in addition to brain training - that’s when Grace Place was partially born.

If your student is struggling because of missed school, or if they need more focused time with a specific subject or homework assignments, a Grace Place program is probably best for your family. Grace Place can help your child strengthen academic skills, master new concepts, and build study habits for academic success.

If your student has been present in school and/or has received all of the relevant information, but is still struggling, brain training may be a better option. Learn more about LearningRx programs.

  • Unused hours can be transferred to the next month or refunded if requested within a month.

  • If tutoring or Homework Help isn’t enough to get a handle on academics, we will offer a Cognitive Sills Assessment to see if Brain Training is a better fit. It’s possible that your student may need brain training instead of homework help or tutoring if their academic performance is not increasing.

Did You Know We Offer Support for Homeschool Students?

Sometimes parent-teachers need help too. We offer support (and a break) for parent-teachers through our subject-specific tutoring program.

Additionally, we offer space for homeschooled students to study and take online courses. Students benefit from having different teachers and being in different environments from time to time.

Give us a call at 502.409.5442 or submit a question online to learn how we can help your homeschooled student.
